Crusader states coins
During the 4th Crusade (1202-1204), part of
the Byzantine Empire was occupied by the Crusaders, who founded
the Latin Empire, the Kingdom of Thessalonica, the Duchy of
Athens, the Duchy of Achaia and the Seignory of Negroponte.
Thessalonica and the Latin Empire were recaptured by the Greeks
in 1261. Crusader heirs continued to rule in Athens and the
Peloponnese until these lands were conquered by the Ottoman
Empire in the 15th century.

Coins of Greece
The first Greek monarchy was established by
the Treaty of Constantinople of 1832, which guaranteed Greece's
independence from the Ottoman Empire, and existed until March
25, 1924, when the Second Hellenic Republic was proclaimed.
The monarchy was restored on November 3, 1935 in a coup d'état.
In 1967, after the military junta of "black colonels" came to
power, King Constantine II left the country. Formally, Greece
continued to be considered a kingdom, and a regent was
appointed.
On December 8, 1974, as a result of a referendum, the monarchy
was abolished and Greece became a republic again.
