County of Angouleme

 

Angouleme is a city in Aquitaine. The status of the county was obtained at the beginning of the 9th century. The county was ruled by the Taillefer House until 1218, when it passed through the female line to the counts of Marsh Lusignan. In 1308 died childless Guy I de Lusignan and Philip IV the Fair joined the county to the France royal domain.
Deniers was minted with the name of Louis (King of the West-Frankish Kingdom in 936-954).
