Aargau coins catalog with values online
The name Aargau comes from the river Are - Aar-gau "province of Are".
The territory of the canton in the Middle Ages was between
Burgundy and
Germany and was the subject of their claims.
In 1415, part of the canton became part of the Swiss Confederation within the canton of
Bern, and part of the Aar-gau (county of Baden) was ruled by the Habsburgs.
In March-April 1798 Aargau was captured by Napoleon, who transformed the county of Baden into the canton of Baden.
In 1803 the canton of Baden was abolished and annexed to Aargau.
In 1832 the canton joined the Concordat of the Seven.
Since 1848 it has been part of the
Swiss Confederation.

The value of the coins is approximate. Most often, it is simply the price for which I once bought this particular coin. You can use it to estimate similar coins (of the same type), but remember that the value is affected by many factors, such as condition and minting date. The price of coins of even the same type can vary greatly depending on the number of surviving examples.
