Schaffhausen coins catalog with values online
In the 11th century, the fishing and trading village on the Scafhusum Rhine was in the possession of the Counts of Nellenburg.
In 1050, the Benedictine monastery of All Saints was founded, which took over the village, as well as the convent of St. Agnes.
In the 12th century the village grew and became an imperial town.
At the end of the fourteenth century, Schaffhausen, which had achieved considerable prosperity, had at least 12,000 inhabitants, approximately the same number as Zurich.
In 1501, the town and region joined the Swiss Union as a canton.
