Luneburg coins catalog with values

Free Hanseatic City of Lüneburg (1293-1705)

There were rich salt deposits near the city, thanks to which Luneburg very quickly began to prosper - salt was required in large quantities in coastal cities to preserve fish.

In 1299 Lüneburg joined the Hanseatic Trade League.

In the 16th and 17th centuries, Luneburg was one of the capitals of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg, while maintaining self-government. In particular, the dukes minted their own coins, and the city its own.

In 1814, the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg was transformed into the Kingdom of Hanover.
