After the end of the war there was a shortage of circulating coins in Germany. That is, probably, the coins of the Third Reich did not go anywhere, but their release into circulation was not politically correct because of the use of symbols of Nazi Germany. The way out was found in the minting of coins 1, 5 and 10 pfennigs of the same type as before, but with a slightly modified eagle and, most importantly, without the swastika. These coins were issued by the occupation authorities until 1948.
