List of British coins denominations types

Farthing types
1. From XII century to 1613 - silver farthing
2. 1613 - copper farthing plated tin (to resemble a silver coin).
3. 1660-1824 - copper farthings (22-23 mm.) with Britannia seated to the left.
4. 1824-1860 - copper farthings (22 mm.) with Britannia seated to the right
5. 1860-1936 - bronze farthings (20 mm.) with Britannia seated to the right
6. 1936-1956 - bronze farthings (20 mm.) with wren to the left
1/2 (half) Penny types
1. Pre-1936 - design is exactly the same as 1 penny coins (see section below).
2. 1936-1967 - bronze 1/2 penny with "Bluenose" schooner.
3. 1968-1981 - bronze 1/2 "new" penny with royal crown.
4. 1982-1984 - bronze 1/2 penny with royal crown.
Penny types
1. From VIII century to 1717 - silver penny.
2. 1797 - copper "cartwheel" penny.
3. 1806-1807, copper penny with Britannia to the right.
4. 1825-1860 - copper penny with Britannia to the left.
4. 1861-1967 - bronze penny with Britannia to the left.
5. 1971-1981 - bronze "new" penny with portcullis.
6. 1982-1992 - bronze penny with portcullis.
7. 1992-2008 copper plated steel penny with portcullis.
8. Since 2008 - copper plated steel penny with part of the coat of arms of the United Kingdom.
