Modern US coins that worth more than face value

In this article, I will not discuss the very rare modern US coins that are worth a lot of money, but which you will never come across. If you could just get them in change, they would not be rare, right?

I will only talk about coins that are quite common, but somewhat rarer than others. Therefore, numismatist collectors can pay extra money for them.

Keep in mind that collectors prefer coins that are in good condition (especially if they are easy to find). A heavily scratched or deformed coin is probably not worth anything. Ideally, it should be uncirculated.

There are several coins from the period 1983-2018 that can easily be found in your wallet and sold for more than their face value (albeit not much).

All US coins are minted at three mints: Denver, Philadelphia and San Francisco. Coins from the last mint are usually much more expensive than the others and are not found in circulation, since they are minted in small print runs and in special sets. But coins from the other two mints are circulated.

The mint on U.S. coins is designated by letters.
